Modern Rock Classics Issue #1

This is the first in a series of modern rock classics that I'm going to post (according to me, because my opinion is the only one that matters).

This track is off the album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Released in 1995, this third album released by the Pumpkins received critical acclaim for both its scope and ambition. As my favorite album by the group and also probably my favorite song, I have recognized this track as one of the most important songs of my life since 1997 when I got the album until now, over ten years later.

The Smashing Pumpkins - Zero

GRUM X LE CASTLE VANIA

Could've sworn this was posted or we've been listening to it... Throwing it up here anyway for everyone.

The names on this one should make it obvious but if not: super aggressive electro banger ahead! You've been warned.

Mecanico

I don't know when this whole 80s thing will get old but I'm still enjoying it.

The End

Track my friend Jake did when he was 15 or 16, not bad for a 5$ mic.

The End (Illegit Records, right click)

Carte Blanche- Gare Du Nord

Word.

Chill

Was trying to dig this one out the other day in my car, while narrowly avoiding Victoria's pedestrian population.

Phantogram - When I'm small

A whole bunch'o'shit

Trying to redeem myself from my last yeasayer's post.
The Hood Internet - Show Me The O.N.E. (Yeasayer x Jump Jump Dance Dance x Grum)byhoodinternet

In light of the upcoming Cariboo show:
The Hood Internet - Sun Chewed Up (Slug & Murs x Caribou)byhoodinternet

I think Hugh was asking about the backgorund track in the Drake vs. Birdman vs. Delorean tune that popped up a few weeks ago. Here it is:

Delorean - Deli

Recent'ish track from Designer Drugs

I find these guys are hit or miss. This one falls under hit for me.

Designer Drugs - Drop Down

alexEdit: added mp3 link

More old new stuff

Just Dance has been remixed to death, and I'm here to help it along.

Human Life

Nu-disco goodness. We will see more of these guys soon.

Can't find an mp3 of the original yet but will post if it surfaces.

edit: YouTube rip for take away. Didn't want to edit the track so there's 11 sec of dead air at the beginning... but at least the quality is decent.

Band of Skulls

Cheers to Dev Mo for getting me on these guys. Good album...

Just a couple tracks i'm digging

Cold War Kids - Audience

The Pornographers - Moves

New Interpol Album coming soon

One of my favorite bands in existence is about to drop a new album. After finishing the album, bassist Carlos D left the band and won't be touring with them.

Here's a track I've listened to hundreds of times. The outtro is as good as it gets.

Yeasayer - O.N.E ( X X X Remix )

I've had this one for a while, and Hugh's post made me dig it up.

Caribou - Vancouver May 29

On that note, check out this RAD bmx video that features Caribou's Melody Day halfway through.

must concentrate

Soo after a good week of partying I'm trying to get my neurons to fire again.

Philosophy bites
Cool topics, respected scholars, formatted for those lacking serotonin.

Ted Talks
Takes wikipedia style procrastination to new heights.

FM Belfast- Par Avion
(Right clickity)

Young galaxy- long live the fallen world

This aint Burger King:
Yeasayer- O.N.E. (right click)

Woodhands Mix....FIRE!

Came across a new mix from my favorite electro weird duo (trio now) Woodhands. For those of you that don't know them here's a Youtube video to get you all better acquainted.

Anyways here's a link to the new mix enjoy!

DJ Intervention

Bit of silly on this otherwise unsilly tuesday

Gear Lust- Novation Launchpad

Howdy all!
As it is known I had to recently sell my turntables/mixer as I'm preparing to move back home to the Ol' VI and I've been missing my nightly jaunts at mixing and chopping. So with gear lust in my heart I've been trying to decide what kind of live/DJ setup I'll be building once I settle down again. Take a look at this nifty little controller very tempting little toy indeed....

Old Faves

Dug these up... kind of all over the place but mostly indie rock or electronic pop.

Already put this in one of the comments but it really deserves its own post.
